I've used it very briefly in the past, but a friend says it's pretty good, plus it's actually in the budget at something like $53 dollars. Gimp just doesn't quite cut it for me when it comes to a lot of the stuff I'm trying to do. 

Crazy busy. I wanna do another space piece, but I'm not sure what subject to use or colors. Hopefully I'll have that up tomorrow, and maybe even an extra!

I've also been drawing a lot more lately, so one of these days I'll actually get a piece scanned and fully colored to post. Or maybe I'll at least post some sketches in my scraps. I'm not awesome, but I've improved so much since I started drawing regularly almost 10 years ago. I had been inspired to teach myself by Legend of Zelda fanart on some now-defunct site. Starting out I was pretty bad, but I think it shows that art isn't about talent, it can be, but most of the time it's the result of a lot of hard work and dedication. If you stick to it, you will improve, maybe not as fast or as much as you desire, but you do improve over time.

I've been trying a new coloring technique that uses hard edged brushed instead of soft, and I like it so far, it's about as time consuming as using the soft brushes anyways, maybe even a little faster, and it looks better. Hopefully as I improve, I can start getting more realistic looking pieces as well. My roommate has a cute little cat, so I've been babysitting him while she's away and I'm at home. He thinks I'm his playmate or something so he's always chasing my feet and (gently) biting me.

So all's well, I think. I've been keeping up with the news pretty regularly for once, I listen to NPR whenever I'm in the car and read Forbes or WSJ when I have spare time at one of my jobs. So yay for feeling like an actual adult. I even went to a wine tasting the other day.

Monday, February 17th at 6:20am my cat fluffy passed away. She was around 17 years old. You will be missed baby.

I sometimes use certain brushes, typically cloud or grunge to help create some of the effects in my space art. I want to use this journal as a general place to keep links for some of the brushes I use, that way for non commercial pieces I can link to this so there's a set of general brushes/textures I use, and if I commercially use a brush, I can refer back to this for the credit links.

All of the brushes I'm using are free for modification, and generally free for commercial use as long as credit is given.

So I created a Tumblr account for my art as well. This will still be my main account, and that one will be solely for posting my space art.
Also I'm considering changing my username(as I have been for a while), but I'm not sure what to change it to... and I think I need a membership to change it here anyways.
